When it's this cold (about 15-20 below Celcius) rugs are good, but more important is ad lib forage, so that the horses get enough energy to keep their "central heating system" going. Biloxi and Sion are growing, and so eat huge amounts of forage, so they needed a refill during the day. And they were happy as clams munching away in the sun and snow. And yes, the snowplow's been in the paddocks. Lots of snow is fab when it's powdery and light, but as it freezes it makes for very uneven going for the youngsters. Lovely with a yard owner who thinks about these things, and is able to do something about it too.
