I was responsible for the whole yard for the first time, so it was all a blur of activity from the morning until well into the day. But then I made time to go for a hack with Sioux. In places the snow came up to her chest (that's high!), but then we arrived in the woods where lanes had been plowed and prepared for training the harness racers, so we were able to trot and canter to our hearts' content before trudging back through the snow. Sioux was very happy, but obviously quite tired, so I threw a wool rug over her back and let her rest while I turned in the other horses for the evening. When I was done I could hear her snoring, and when I went in she was happy to place her big, heavy head in my lap and sleep some more. After a while I got back to the chores of the day, while she snored on. So I fetched my camera to capture her relaxing. She's not always keen on being disturbed when she's sleeping, but today she was well up for the company, and for getting her back scratched while laying down!
