Vel framme var Biloxi merkbart piggere, og heldigvis var han såpass at han drakk litt. Etter at adrenalinet (?) fra reisen ga seg ble han igjen tydelig slappere, surklet og hostet mye og rett og slett åpenbart syk. Feberen var borte pga sprøyten Linda ga før vi reiste, og blodprøver viste ingen abnormaliteter. Men veterinæren forklarte at føll angrepet av den bakterien de tror Biloxi har ofte ser "uforskammet friske" ut og at det nettopp derfor er så høy dødlighet. Det blir ikke oppdaget før føllet er så sykt at lungene ikke kan reddes... Skremmende!Litt på siden av alt må jeg skryte av hvor fantastisk Sioux er. Hun var så snill, rolig og ukomplisert at det gjør alt litt enklere for Biloxi og alle involverte mennesker.
Once at the NVH Biloxi was pretty perky, and even drank a little. After a while the natural adrenaline (?) after the trip wore off and he became more lethargic, in addition to sounding extremely clogged up and coughing a lot. The fever was down thanks to the shot Linda gave him before we left, and the bloodscreening showed no abnormalities. However, the vet could tell me that most foals infected by the bacteria he believes Biloxi has often look the "picture of health" and that's one of the reasons the mortality rate is so high. It's simply not diagnosed before the foal is so ill that the lungs aren't salveageable. Scary!
OT I just have to say how amazing Sioux is in the middle of all this. So calm, kind and uncompliated that she makes it less stressful for Biloxi, and all the people involved.

Fingre, tær og armer og bein er krysset for at alt går fin-fint med Biloxi og at han nå er medisinert riktig slik at han kommer seg igjen :)
