Overtro

Mange har vel hørt at man kan finne ut kjønn på barn ved å holde en gullring over den gravide magen og se hvordan ringen pendler. Det samme må da gå med hester? Evas giftering ble tredd på hestetagl, og vi tok oss runden rundt hoppestallen for å prøve det på alle hoppene. Først spurte Eva ringen hva som var hingst og hva som var hoppe; hun, Jannicke og jeg nistirret på ringen og var alle enige om at den beveget seg litt ulikt. Og selvom vi følte oss litt dumme så er det jo morsomt å prøve og se om ringen kan spå kjønn siden vi har så mange hopper å teste. Tenk om det blir 100% korrekt!
Her er nå ihvertfall resultatet, eller rettere sagt spådommene, med hoppene rangert etter når de har termin:

Jannicke håper ringen tar feil, og jeg håper ringen har rett. Eva er fornøyd med fordelingen hingst- og hoppeføll. Og alle sammen er vi vel egentlig kjempefornøyde så lenge det kommer ni sunne og friske føll til verden uten komplikasjoner for hoppene. Men vi kommer til å være ekstra spent når det første føllet kommer!

There's an old wives tale that you can guess the sex of an unborn child by holding a gold ring in a strand of hair over the belly, and seeing how it moves. We figured it would be fun to try as we've got so many mares in, so Eva got her wedding band and Sioux gave up a strand of her tail. Eva asked the ring what would indicate a filly and what would indicate a colt, and she, Jannicke and myself stared at the ring as it moved. Not quite agreeing on how to describe the movements, but all agreeing that they were different. Anyway, we checked all the mares, and the ring moved quite distinctly. Though we all felt a little bit stupid for doing this, it'll be fun to see if the rings predictions are right or not. Just imagine if it gets them all right!

Jannicke and I are both hoping for fillys, so she wants the ring to be wrong and I want it to be right. Eva doesn't really care either way, and we will all be happy as long as all nine are delivered, healthy and sound, with no problems for the mares. But we'll be extra curious when the first foal arrives!
