Santee og Sioux er begge litt knappe, med særlige behov pga melkeproduksjon og vekst, så de *trenger* fri tilgang på godt grovfôr. Biloxi har enda ikke sett en knapp han ikke har villet prøvesmake, og har i grunn et større mentalt enn fysisk behov når det gjelder mat. Så Elin har funnet fram til et finfint kompromiss. Ett av flekkehøynettene henger slik at Biloxi kan pille høy fra sin boks fram til hans eget blir hengt opp ved kveldsfôring. Da har han tilgang, men det er allikevel begrenset hvor mye han får i seg. Og så har vel ymse studier vist at det er bra med familier som tar seg tid til å spise sammen...

Santee and Sioux are both on the thin side, and have special requirements due to lactating and growth, so they really need ad lib access to good quality forage. Biloxi, on the other hand, though still growing, has plenty to spare and so his need for ad lib forage is more psychological than physical. So the yard owner has created a nifty compromise. One of the haynets is hung so that Biloxi can only just reach it from his side too, so he's able to eat a little from it until he gets his own net for the night. This means he has access, but can't gorge himself. Also, I believe studies have shown proven benefits when families enjoy shared meals...
