Optimistisk oppdatering Sioux

Sioux er fortsatt stabil, og veterinærene er svært optimistiske til at det kan gjennomføres kikkehullskirurgi for å fikse problemet hennes. Dette er fantastisk gode nyheter; med denne type kirurgi trenger hun ikke narkose, og brått har hun samme prognose som en hvilkensomhelst annen hest. Det er alltid en risiko ved et slikt inngrep, men hjerte, alder osv teller ikke mot henne. Vi teller derfor ned til mandag, når kirurgen som kan gjøre inngrepet har mulighet for å komme inn. Akkurat nå er Sioux "klinisk frisk" og det er helt nødvendig at hun forblir slik for at de skal kunne operere. Så vi krysser alt vi har av fingre og høver, og fryder oss over noen timer i paddock i oppholdsvær, med travelhester som underholdning.

Sioux is still stable, and the vets are very optimistic that they can "fix" her problem using keyhole surgery. This is fabulous news, as this can be done under local anaesthesia, giving her the same prognosis as any other horse. Though any surgery is a risk, her heart condition and age won't count against her. So, we're counting down to Monday, when the surgeon is available. Right now Sioux is clinically healthy, and it is essential that she remain so for them to do the surgery. So we're crossing fingers, hoping for the best, and that she can enjoy a few hours outside, watching the harness racers train.
