He'd been watching Biloxi, and was seemingly inspired when he was taken in to go. He's a little clumsier to begin with, and isn't quite as quick-footed as his big brother, but boy does he get the point! He is so forward and keen and his technique is very nice. All in all watching Santee go was fab!
Today we had time to jump the youngsters, and Biloxi was first to go. Chubby had a blast, and it was so fun to see how much he enjoyed himself. And how good he is at this. As he's so out of shape, we had to hold him back as he would have kept going for much longer if we let him. He's so good at seeing where he is, placing himself right, his technique is good (better than in the photos really, as he's nice and quick up front which doesn't really show as most photos are taken when he's "unfolding" his forelegs again) and even with all his excess baggage, this is obviously something that comes naturally. And that he enjoys!

Hoppelopper
Emma helps out with the horses, and here she is jumping with Santee. Who seems to find jumping more and more fun.

Sprangulf!
Santee was "extra pintoed up" toda (I've hardly seen him dirtier), but except for that all was good and fun, and he was happy to do a bit of jumping. Even if I did have some help it's difficult to take photos, so even if I'm happy to have documented some of his jumping, I wish I'd captured more. Such as when he jumped the 75 cm upright behind me with as wide a margin as the 25 cm I photographed!
Flinkeloxi!
I didn't ask Biloxi to jump, but he still did. Not that he jumps everything, and all the time, but if there are fences available he normally pops over them once or twice just for fun. And today, when he realised Santee was praised for his jumping, he did a few extra so I managed to photograph him too. Such a great "little" horse!

There were fences out from loose jumping earlier in the day, so I had the colts do a little jumping, even though it was a bit warm for a horse carrying all the excess weight Biloxi is, to be exerting himself. They started out a bit skeptical, but that soon turned to enthusiasm, and I was very pleased with them both. And with Ingrid helping me out so I could take some photos of them in action...

HoppeTee
Moro for alle!
Santee ran with Biloxi, and was pleased to have him as support. They trotted and cantered over poles on the ground, and seemed both interested and surprised. He was rather entertaining when studying the new "challenges", but handled the poles coming up off the ground very well all things considered. I thought there were more awkward moments, but looking at the photos he seems both focused and rather good at it. There were only a few jumps, and then lots of praise and cuddles.
A big thank you to Ingrid, Lin, Trine and Kristine who helped out with the horses so I could take the photos. Particularly fun to have captured Santee's first meeting with fences. And even if we're not going to be doing this often, it won't be the last time we school loose over jumps. Fun for all!
The ground may have been a bit hard, but other than that everything was absolutely perfect for a spot of loose jumping. First went the trotter, the arab and the quarter, Kong Gla, Parat and Cindy. They all did super good! Then came the boys that are born and bred to do this stuff, and though they were very entertaining, it wasn't perhaps exactly how we'd expected. Biloxi is simply a bit tired, but still managed to keep track of the poles, his legs and his brother. And, as the photos show, he did a great job too!
